  This statement I agree with means that it's not right to feel or be popular, and being popular isn't right. In addition, doing something the popular way would make you a (choosing the wrong) person and you want to make sure you do things the right way. For example, someone who would do haircuts and trim for someone in need like the homeless would not be not only a good person but is also doing what's right and not by being popular. And someone who does something trying to be popular would be doing what's wrong.
